Born in 1928, Ado Chale first began training as an ironmonger, then in the 1950s, he turned to enamelled sheet metal advertising. During a trip to Germany, the artist discovers mineralogy. He creates platters of resin tables with incrustations of semi-precious stones. It also produces visually more sophisticated and refined furniture. In his workshop in Ixelles, he creates original furniture and composes mosaics with semi-precious stones. Ado Chale gains notoriety quickly and becomes the leader of a current of decoration in Brussels. Its use of minerals will be largely imitated.
