Greek sculptor born in 1923, Philolaos trained at the School of Fine Arts in Athens from 1944 to 1947 and joined the workshops of Michel Tombros and Athanase Apartis. He then went to the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he took classes with Marcel Gimond. In the 1960s, he surrounded himself with architects and landscapers who let him install his sculptures in spaces. With a preference for stainless steel, Philolaos also uses in his works terracotta, marble, wood or even washed concrete.
