Who is

Daido Moriyama (1938-)

Daido Moriyama is a Japanese photographer born in 1938 near Osaka. He began his career in Tokyo. He was first interested in painting but soon became a hunter of original images, angles and photographic plans. He especially enjoyed wandering the streets of Shinjuku, a district of Tokyo where the cultural interbreeding of the population captivated him. His black and white photographs represent and reveal the evolution of cultural values and manners in Japan in the twentieth century.
