Who is

Gio Ponti (1891-1979)

Gio Ponti, born in Milan in 1891, began his studies in architecture at the Ecole Polytechnique. After the First World War, he became the artistic director of Richard-Ginori. In 1928, Gio Ponti founded his architecture studio and the Domus magazine. In the 1933s, he joined forces with Eugenio Sonsini and Antonio Fornaroli and created the Ponti-Fornaroli-Soncini Studio. This collective opts for a modernist twist until 1945.

Known for his emblematic 20th century buildings such as the Pirelli Tower in Milan, he also works with other materials and explores other areas. He is also a designer, craftsman, painter or industrial designer. Its production is heteroclite and goes from the coffee machine to the lighting and furniture.
