Jérôme Quilan (1957-)

Slowly, Jerome Quilan learned the secrets of art metallurgy. Always fascinated by painting, architecture and ancient objects, he has followed his penchant for violence and the reveries of Nature, in which he found an inexhaustible source of inspiration: fabulous animals, disturbing wolves, mythological unicorns, winged horses but also, more prosaically, distant cypresses, parasol pines, or mysterious flowers. Immersed for decades in this baroque and paradoxical universe that he explores with the greed and frenzy of a true poet, he creates everyday objects, always bringing a touch of originality and elegance: seats, consoles, mirrors, with carefully worked patinas of antique bronze or aged gold; luminaires made of driftwood from rivers, the sea and elsewhere or inlaid with shells; tables and pedestal tables soberly decorated with transparent glass slabs where richly adorned with shimmering material for the look, marble, onyx, exotic schists, as an additional invitation to travel.
